Hey folks,
This lovely little bird is a nuthatch – and I was quite lucky to get a picture of them (even if the photo quality isn’t the best – my big zoom lens is second hand and also getting on a bit).
According to my British bird guide book you don’t really get nuthatches in Scotland, only England and Wales. They do apparently sometimes turn up in the very south of Scotland, and I think I must just be far south enough (I am literally only a few miles from England, via Gretna or across the Solway Firth).
I had a good laugh watching it trying to crack open a green hazelnut on a tree, it was having a hard time of it and looked a bit manic. Hopefully it got it open in the end!
Thanks for visiting,
Kaylin x
