Hey folks,
Today’s shot is a white throated dipper – so called because they dip up and down when they’re perching above water catching fish and insects.
I love these little birds, and have the pleasure of seeing them all the time as we have a few resident at our local river.
They are difficult to get a nice picture of, however, because of their contrasting black and white feathers and the fact that they are almost always against a grey/black/brown background on the water. So I was very happy to finally get a shot of one off the river on a log – actually the first time I have seen them not on or flying directly above the river – they are definitely river birds!
Thanks for visiting,
Kaylin
