Hey! I’m Kaylin, a photographer and artist from Scotland. I love photographing nature and wildlife, natural and built environments, and everything else in-between!

Merchant City Archway, Glasgow

A black and white portrait orientation image looking through a stone archway towards Royal Exchang Square in Glasgow, with a glass building in the background and a sign saying Merchant City near the top of the archway. A man is walking away from the camera on the other side of the archway and his shadow is being cast backwards towards the viewer.

I took this shot on a photo trip to my old home city of Glasgow back in January. It was a chilly day, and I think that comes through in this picture; somehow, the light feels cold. I love the architecture in this part of the city. When I lived in Glasgow, the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA), which can be seen on the right through the archway, was a place I regularly visited as much for the art as for the architecture of the building itself, and of course, the library in the basement. The GoMA library isn’t nearly as big as the Mitchell library (also a favourite haunt), but it always had a cosy, quiet feel to it despite being in the heart of the city, which I loved.

Prints are available from my Etsy store.
