The Mennock Pass, or Mennock Valley, is a dramatic set of hills in the Scottish southern uplands. The hills are covered in heather and fern, and later in the year large patches of the hills will appear purple.

A road snakes through the valley, leading to the village of Wanlockhead, which is officially the highest village in Scotland at around 405m above sea level, despite not being in the highlands.

The local hills are also known as the ‘Lead Hills’ due to a history of lead mining in the 18th century, with evidence of old mining infrastructure still dotted about the landscape. Wanlockhead has a lead mining museum, and is a popular tourist destination. People also pan for gold in the Mennock Water, which is also a protected site of special scientific interest, and part of the broader Upper Nithsdale special area of conservation.
